Generation Y and Technology

Sunday, March 21, 2010

I dont know about you but all the generation names confuse me, let alone knowing what they are "known" for. I am comfortable with "veterans, baby boomers, and generation X (mine by the way)" but i honestly did not know the name of any others. As I read this article, I thought it was important information for everyone to have an understanding of the basic trademarks of these generational traits. After I read the article I felt that the generational characteristics are much like personality traits, which I spend a great deal of time helping others understand. I believe if we add the knowledge to what we know already, maybe we will be another step closer in relating to others better.

The article I am speaking of is focusing on "Generation Y" people born 1979-2003 and their ease with specifically technology. The article discusses an example of a "Generation Y" worker and how they conduct their business. This information is good to know and recognize not only in a business environment but a social one too.

We have an upcoming seminar March 29th entitled The Perfect Fit-Finding Your Ideal Parenting Style "Relating to Your Tween/Teen" from 6-9pm we are focusing on technology and its effects. We will have several guest speakers and one of whom will be:

Denise Pellow an entrepreneur, internet safety speaker, advocate, educator, and Author of The Five Dangerous Trends Concerning Kids, Technology and the Internet!

Sign up for the seminar only one week away at sarahoffstot@yahoo.com or 618-741-8543 for more information on the generations please view http://bit.ly/9ZMX1K

How Much Is Too Much?

Sunday, March 7, 2010

When watching the movie UP, the movie focused around a boy and his life adventures and desires as we watched his life unfold.  It was obvious to an adult audience that the elderly man lost his wife to sickness, as she was seen in the hospital bed and then references of her not being there were made in a discreet manner.

The movie focus was not on death and dying, however how much information is too much for children when the subject is death and dying?  Let me know you thoughts...
